Over the last 20 years, Spoon has evolved from a modest content agency in Stockholm to a Nordic behemoth. And after joining forces with Southerly, they’ve set their sights on conquering Europe too. But how much do you know about the agency that hails from the land of Vikings, Abba and Ikea? Here’s the scoop on this pan-European agency – and why you’ll be hearing a lot more from them in the future.

1. Spoon was founded in 1998 by Anders Ribba, Melker Forssén and Håkan Johansson, who were convinced that the best stories originate from the real world.
2. In the Nordics, Spoon is the ‘kung’ of content marketing agencies. It has more than 200 employees, making it one of the largest groups in Europe.
3. The agency has a broad range of global and local clients including Microsoft, Volvo Trucks, SOS Alarm, Kantega, National Geographic, Sandvik Coromant and Wärtsilä.
4. Its offices span six locations (including London!).
5. The agency has been providing training courses for marketers since 2016. Prior to this, it was focused on internal training, but decided to branch into seminars, online articles, newsletters, guides and lectures when it spotted a gap in the market. Much of the content is free and available on the Spoon blog.
6. Spoon runs regular breakfast seminars across its different offices, with similar events coming to London soon. Recent topics include ‘Keep it real in a fake world and ‘Employer branding in focus’.
7. Spoon is a bonafide expert in video storytelling. Its impressive 2014 Volvo Trucks vs Koenigsegg campaign clocked up over four million views on YouTube and was featured in more than 400 publications worldwide.
8. Spoon is also a specialist in paid media promotion. When PostNord approached the agency for help managing a media crisis, it ran a native advertising campaign that increased public confidence in the brand by 15%.
9. Spoon is owned by Nordic publisher Bonnier,  an international media group that started in Sweden in 1804 as a small bookshop and publishing firm.
10. The agency has bagged over 60 awards since 2010, including international prizes from the Pearl Awards in New York, the Digital Communication Awards in Berlin and the International Content Marketing Awards in London. It is officially Sweden’s most award-winning content agency.
11. But what makes Spoon different? For one thing, it likes to keep it real, and its brand proposition is all about storytelling, authenticity and rooting content in reality – all of which is linked to its journalistic roots.
