Björn Owen Glad will head Spoon’s new e-learning venture

The aim of Spoon’s newly launched StoryCo brand is to help marketers and in-house agencies to keep up with the latest developments. Spoon’s former marketing director Björn Owen Glad is the man behind the new venture.

“Our intention is to bring about fundamental changes in the way marketers acquire new knowledge and inspiration, which will improve the way they work,” says Björn Owen Glad.

Because more and more companies are setting up in-house agencies, the need for training is growing. Many marketing managers believe that skills development is one of the biggest challenges they face at a time when requirements are changing at a rapid rate.

Björn Owen Glad has moved away from the traditional methods of providing training. In his view, modern marketing people need to develop new skills on an ongoing basis.

“Knowledge and experience have an incredibly short lifespan these days. Marketing team members have to acquire new skills all the time to be able to do a good job. Taking a few long-winded and expensive training courses over your whole career is no longer the right approach. This is why StoryCo has been set up on the basis of a subscription service which enables companies to make sure that their employees are constantly growing and developing.”

StoryCo will provide a digital subscription service for e-learning, but will also design customised solutions where e-learning is combined with face-to-face training and other types of knowledge sharing. It will also be possible to purchase individual online courses on niche subjects.

Over 300 employees from day one
Since 2015 Björn Owen Glad has been running the Spoon Academy, which has trained marketing staff at around fifty companies using a variety of methods. Now he is making use of all the expertise of the Real Agency Group to create a more wide-ranging, international offering.

“The Real Agency Group has a vast amount of experience and specialist knowledge. StoryCo really has been standing on a giant’s shoulders since day one. It will be great to package all that knowledge and make it available on the market.”
